All Children Are Musical! 

At Music Together® we believe that music ability is as much a basic life skill as walking and talking, and that all children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with pleasure and confidence in the music of our culture.

We introduce children to the joys of making music instead of passively receiving it from CDs, radio, or television. Because young children instinctively respond to and imitate their loved ones, the active participation of parents and caregivers – regardless of their musical ability – is an essential part of the rich musical environment we create.

And it’s fun! Very young children learn best through play, so our teachers are specially trained to foster an enjoyable, easy atmosphere where adults can relax as they play musically with their children. By providing a CD and songbook to take home, we hope to inspire spontaneous music-making as a regular part of your everyday family life. Enjoy!

Music Together® Is...

• Kids and grown-ups sharing songs, chants, rhythmic rhymes, instrument play, dancing, movement, and finger-plays in a non-performance oriented, community setting. 
• 10 weeks of Class for each unique collection of Music - each class being 45 minutes in length.
• Music learned through carefully researched, developmentally appropriate activities that support and respect the unique learning styles of very young children.
• Two (2) Music Together CD’s, an illustrated songbook to bring home each semester; nine different collections in all.
• Jammin Baby will provide each family with a new instrument each session to add to the at-home musical experience.  We also provide our families the opportunity to purchase additional instruments at wholesale prices during and/or after each session.
• A Mixed-Age format, with children ranging from newborn through 5 years in the same class. This creates a family atmosphere, enables siblings to attend together, and gives every child the freedom to participate as he or she chooses, without being burdened by age-specific expectations.
  

How is Music Together® Different from other children’s music programs?

• Music Together fosters family music-making, so mixed-aged classes teach family groups how to play together with music, bringing a joyful human experience back into family life. 
• Music Together does not organize class content around themes and ages as other programs do. These themes are more apt to reflect an adults’ concept of music education than a child’s’ way of experiential learning. Music Together provides many and varied experiences, with very little explanation or directed teaching.
• Parent involvement is a centerpiece of the Music Together experience. We consider the parents to be students as well as the children; therefore it is a family program.  Music Together educates the parents about basic music development in childhood and involves them actively in all activities. At home, parents and caregivers are asked to play, sing and move with their child, both with and without Music Together recordings.
• A JamminBaby Music Together class seeks to expose its students to soulful music from around the world - so on top of the musically rich songs from the Music Together collections - we also introduce our students to various artists from all genres of music on a weekly basis for Free Dance and sometimes for an impromtu Jam session at the end of each class.
